Inspirational Verse NIV: 1 Samuel 18:1 “After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself.”
Insight:
Uncontrollable call to pure love is rare or unfounded because is not defined merely by earthly lust or desires. It is willing to surrender in its fullness, sacrifice all its earnest yearnings, fight hard to win any cause with righteous supplications, and seeks no compensation or merit for its own personal gratification. Love is willing to let go and set free with faith what is naught or what is never meant to be. It agrees to be in chains to follow benevolence and charity. It concurs with “no” and respects limitations and boundaries. It knows and discerns the right time for “yes”. Its reward is to give, even to the point of loss or bereavement. Like the love of David to his beloved friend Jonathan as though he was his flesh and God’s gift of love to you through Jesus. It embodies the covenant of the outpouring of blood, the rush of each heart beat and life, it involves the flame, heat and fire that never cease and is filled with oil. It evokes the unbecoming of the senses from the call of self and “I want!” It is a journey to selflessness and not selfishness.
